Welcome to Forte Etude, Study of the Strongest Point. This name came about because the theme of my stories (and my life) is fortitude. This was unconscious at first. Heh. Sneaky subconscious.
I envision this blog having a slightly harder edge than Chapterhouse. I held back posting certain thoughts and images there concerning my atheism for fear of offending more sensitive readers. If you're religious, be forewarned that some content will be offensive. You may want to look elsewhere on your daily round through the blogosphere.
Atheism is truly the last closet. More and more of us are coming out, heeding the call of "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" to keep silent no longer after 9/11. I feel I've been too quiet for too long. The election's coming in just over a month, with polls showing an extremely tight race. It is conceivable that a foaming-at-the-mouth Fundie could wind up being President of the United States sometime in the next four years, and she could be far worse than Dumbya, the dry drunk who switched from booze to Jesus endorphins.
My blog won't change a thing one way or another about the election, but at least it's a place where I can express myself more fully.
"I say quite deliberately that the Christian religion, as organized in its churches, has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world." - Bertrand Russell
(Of course, this was a pre-9/11 observation.)
We've already seen the "morality" of Dumbya's reign, and boy did the Fundies eat it up. McCain's scary enough, but imagine what could happen if Palin took the highest office.
Oh wait; someone has:

I am offended!
Wait, no I'm not.
We will be greeted as moose.
Hey Randal, thanks for being the first the comment! I'll try to do something more offensive next time...
Scary indeed. There was a cartoon a few weeks ago (I couldn't find it online) that showed McCain and Palin standing on stage, joining hands. In Palin's other hand, she was holding a stethoscope up to McCain's chest.
It was almost too grim to be funny.
Tom, I don't think the woman would even blink if he dropped dead. God's will and all ...
Well, it's nice to see you've kept a low-key, quiet, shy presence in the blogosphere. I wonder where the controversial stuff is you warned us about? Why, even a conservative fundamentalist Christian would love your post. :P
But seriously, that video didn't look like a parody to me. It more closely resembled a warning, and the reason I support Obama.
Speaking of Obama, have you seen the latest electoral map on Yahoo? I go to bed tonight with a smile on my face and dreams of a landslide in my head.
MC, is that a picture of PUPPIES?! Hahahaaaaaa! I hadn't noticed that before.
Oh, I imagine I'll get more offensive, or better, as time goes on here - sort of like some cheeses or wine. :)
I'm glad you're smiling, Fred. I'm worried about election fraud. The GOP has been hard at work to ensure that as many of us as possible will be turned away, not to mention having votes changed with no paper trail to prove it.
That woman scares me. If we think we have a Theocracy now with the Shrub, it would be far worse with Patin. It would be the American Inquisition with her. (OK maybe I exaggerate a tiny bit, but that woman would more than likely make the Shrub's Faith Based Initiatives look like nothing.) Not only that, she is an abomination to women.
Mriana, well said!
Ooh - kittens!
Thanks.
Yes, I'm a kitty lover. :) Have two of my own.
